Ankara, the capital and second most populous city of Turkey, offers a pleasant experience to its visitors with its historical texture, green areas, developed transport network and cultural richness. We are pleased to welcome all our participants who will come to Ankara within the scope of the 9th International Plant Protection Congress with Turkey Participation, which will be held on 3-5 September 2025, in this modern and historical city.
📍 Short History of the City
Ankara has been home to Phrygian, Galatian, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman civilisations throughout history. On 13 October 1923, it was declared the capital of the Republic of Turkey. Today, it is both a political, academic and cultural centre.

Ankara cuisine contains the rich flavours of Anatolia:

Kızılay, Tunalı Hilmi, Bahçelievler and Hamamönü are recommended for eating and drinking.

Urban transport in Ankara is quite comfortable with various options such as metro, bus, minibus and taxi. BaşkentKart is used in public transport.

Transportation to TAGEM from the City Centre (Kızılay or Ulus):
By metro: You can take the Ankara metro and get off at "Beyken" stations...
By bus: You can reach TAGEM region with EGO bus lines departing from Ulus or Kızılay...
Getting from Airport to TAGEM:
Esenboga Airport, about 30 km from the city centre...
You can reach Kizilay by Havaş shuttle services and then take the metro or a taxi to TAGEM. Direct taxi transfer takes approximately 35-45 minutes. Private transfer or car hire options are also available.

- M1-M2-M3: Kızılay ↔ OSB-Törekent (approx. 46 km, 34 stations)

- You can reach Anıtkabir by metro.
- TAGEM can be reached by taking M1 or M2 to Kızılay and transferring by shuttle.
