Prof. Dr. Kubilay Kurtuluş Baştaş graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Plant Protection in 1994. Between 2005-2011, he did postdoctoral studies in molecular plant pathology at the University of Warwick, UK and Cornell University, New York, USA. Dr. Baştaş has received various awards and scholarships from national (TÜBİTAK, TMMOB and YÖK) and international (British Council and ERASMUS) organisations, supervised 9 PhD and 28 MSc theses and completed more than 50 scientific research projects. Dr Baştaş has served as editor/co-editor of more than 25 reputable scientific journals and published more than 350 research articles, book chapters and various review articles in national and international refereed journals. His research areas of expertise include plant bacterial diseases, seed pathology, molecular plant-bacteria interactions, biological control of plant pathogenic bacteria and the effects of climate change on plant pathogens, mitigation of climate change and its effects with beneficial bacteria, climate change and sustainable environmental management and carbon footprint calculation expertise. He has organised 2 national and 6 international scientific conferences and presented studies on the effects of climate change on agriculture and plant-pathogen interactions in scientific fields, congresses and media. He is an active member of the Phytopathological Society of Turkey, American Society of Horticultural Sciences (ASHS), American Phytopathological Society (APS) and British Society for Plant Pathology (BSPP). He is the Director of the Agriculture and Climate Change Application and Research Centre, Chairman of the S. U. Climate Change and Sustainability Supreme Board, and a member of the Higher Education Council (YÖK) Climate Change and Sustainability Board.
